Light a Candle
Ruby Irene Harris, age 74, of Surprise, AZ, and Estherville, IA, passed away on Tuesday, February 9, 2021, at her home in Surprise, AZ. A memorial service in her honor will be held on Saturday, February 20, 2021, at 11:00 am., with visitation beginning 10:00 a.m., at Estherville Lutheran Church in Estherville, IA. Everyone is encouraged to wear face coverings and practice social distancing while attending visitation and services. Ruby was born on February 1, 1947, in Estherville, IA, to Roy Kenneth and Irene Corle (Campney) Enerson. She graduated from Estherville High School in 1965. She was united in marriage to Leland Richard Harris at Estherville Lutheran Church on August 2, 1964. Ruby was a member of the Harbor of Joy Church in Milford, IA, and the American Lutheran Church in Peoria, AZ. She enjoyed golf, fishing, watching the birds in her backyard, and helping Leland on the farm and with his trucking company. Leland and Ruby enjoyed traveling in their motorhome, going to rallies, visiting different places, and meeting new people. Ruby also enjoyed going out to eat with friends. She was always on the go and was known for getting things done; she loved being busy and helping others. Ruby and her dear (late) friend Everine Bradshaw were instrumental in establishing Estherville Community Christian School. In retirement, she enjoyed woodworking, stained glass, volunteering, and spending time with friends at her homes in both Iowa and Arizona. In death, Ruby rejoins her husband, Leland; parents Roy and Irene; brother Donald Enerson; sister Janet McGregor; and granddaughter Amanda Allen.
